WelPac Premium Ito Wakame 56.7g 特選糸わかめ
Wel-Pac Premium ITO Genkai Wakme, dried seaweed. Wakame has a slightly sweet, sea-like flavor. Setang wakame is widely used in Asian cuisine, especially Japanese and Korean cuisine, and is a source of umami and spicy flavor. Wakame is very high in fiber and is used in many Japanese dishes for soups, salads, meat and vegetable dishes.
Directions:
Cut desired amount of wakame to use and soak in cold water for 4-6 minutes, or until rehydrated and desired tenderness is achieved. Drain well. Add to soups and salads as desired.
Miso Soup with Wel Pac Premium ITO Wakame
1 sachet dashi-no-moto (soup stock base)
3 tablespoons red miso
1/4 pound firm tofu, drained and cubed
1/4 ounce Wel Pac Wakame, cut into 1/2 inch lengths, about 1/3 cup and rehydrated as directed above
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives or 1 tablespoon freeze-dried chives
1. Bring 4 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add the unopenable bag of dashi-no-moto or a soup stock base.
2. Bring back to a boil, then reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
3. Remove the dash-no-moto bag when using it in place of the soup base. Add the red miso to the dash broth and stir until the miso is completely dissolved.
4. Add the tofu, wakame and chives.
5. Heat well. Serve hot. Serves 3 or 4.
